Pavement Ants

Description: Small black and brown ants that leave piles of dirt and sand in and around home baseboards. They can be found anywhere in the home but are very commonly found in kitchens. Adult mating ants will grow wings and “swarm”. Pavement ants are a very common issue in slab homes, and also in home with adjoining slab or paver patios.

Treatment: Bug-A-Boo uses a residual product around baseboards and around heat ducts, water pipes and entire outside perimeter to eliminate and control pavement ants.

Preparation:

  • We do recommend pets and small children be away from the area when being treated just as a precaution.
  • Fish, birds and reptiles need to be covered.
  • Does not have an order.
  • Does not stain carpet.
  • Do not need to move anything.

Pharaoh Ants

Pharoah ants are a very small ant, slightly smaller than the pavement ant. Most insecticides do not work on pharaoh ants.

Citronella Ants (Citrus Ant)

Citronella ants are a small yellowish colored ant that has a citronella scent. These ants have large colonies and can create very large mounds around their colony.

Carpenter Ants

Description: Carpenter ants are black ants that vary in size but are usually larger in size, usually found in homes around a bath or kitchen or moist areas like windows or areas where water entry may be causing rot in wood. They love dishwashers for the heat. They carve out nests in damp rotting wood. They are very destructive to wood and will leave behind debris with sawdust like material called frass. During breeding seasons, breeders will grow wings and swarm, and are often mistaken as termites.(see termite page for details)

Treatment: Bug-A-Boo’s treats home areas like baseboards, windows, doors, and basements. May involve gel baiting as well. Usually treatment depends on the individual home. With the treatments, we rarely need to do any drilling of holes in walls.

Preparation:

  • Occupants do not need to leave during during treatment.
  • We do recommend that pets and small children be away from chemicals during treatment.
  • May have an odor.
  • Does not stain carpets.
  • Fish, birds and reptiles must be covered.
